“There was a lot of people interested in that property,” said Evernden, adding that the eventual buyer is from Calgary. “The auction process really gets people off the fence. We had a really strong field of bidders. It went well.

“The main challenge when we started marketing the auction was that Canadian agents and brokers weren’t familiar with the process and didn’t understand why as seller would choose to auction. We were able to educate them on the fact that participation is quite simple and that sellers, buyers and agents all benefit from the ease of the transaction and set timeline.”
